Robert-Jan van Hoogstraten (1967) lives and works in Driehuizen (The Netherlands). He is a photographer with a distinct focus on serenity and simplicity. In his images he seeks stillness, balance, and attention to the everyday, with form and light taking center stage.
His love of photography arose early. In the 1970s, he spent much time in his father's darkroom, watching in fascination as images slowly emerged in the developer. These early experiences formed the foundation of his visual eye and his sense of patience and observation.
In the 1990s, he began his hobby as a photographer, working with his father's equipment. What began as a personal interest grew into a conscious decision to delve deeper into the profession. Since 2025, Robert-Jan has been studying to become a professional photographer at the Photographic School in Amsterdam, where he continues to develop his technical skills and artistic vision.
